How To Check Other Domain Name On Same Server

MyIPneighbors reverse IP domain check

If you are using a shared web hosting package, have you wondered what other domain names are hosted under the same server as you are?

Previously, I was using the reverse IP function provided by domaintools to check the list of domain names hosted under the same server. This function does not come for free. You will need to subscribe to their service and pay a monthly fee in order to use it. For non-subscribers, they will display the first three domain names for free. I only tried out their 30 day free trial and cancelled my subscription after that.

I was reading iCalvyn’s blog and he was blogging about a website called myIPneighbors. MyIPneighbors uses the same reverse IP lookup method to export the list of all domain names hosted under a server. The advantage of this service compared to the one by domaintools is that myIPneighbors is completely free. In fact, it provides extra functionality by displaying the website or blog within the same page.

Go ahead and try out myIPneighbors. You may just find a new website or blog that is interesting. Who knows, you may even make a friend or two.

Contest: Win Free Hosting And Domain Name

Our Make Money diva has started a Go Dot Com contest where you can win a one year free web hosting or a domain name. Seven lucky contestants will be selected and her readers will be voting for their favorite blog post. The top two will win the one year free hosting while the other five will get a free domain each.

One of the requirements for you to join this contest is that you must have a “nicely maintained blog on a free hosting”. From what I understand, only those running a blog in free hosting (eg. blogspot, livejournal, etc) can participate in this contest. Check with Lilian for more details.

What you need to do:

You need to write a post about 200 words on why you think blogging is beneficial. There is also one paragraph given that you need to quote. That’s it! If you are blogging from a free blog host service, this is a great opportunity to get your own domain or to host your own blog on a self paid server.

Closing date is on 10th October 2007. There is still plenty time so prepare your best post now. 10GB Hosting Starting From RM25

Advertisement is a good thing. Not only that the blogger putting up the advertisement earns some money from it but both the blogger and the readers get to discover new products and services occasionally.

I was blog hopping yesterday and I saw an advertisement on Google Adsense about this 10GB hosting starting from RM25. It immediately caught my attention and I went ahead to check it out. 10GB web hosting starting from just RM25

I have seen many ads on Adsense from countless web hosting companies out there but this is the first time I have heard of Curious, I did a whois on the domain name and found out that it was only registered early this month. No wonder it doesn’t even have a page rank or alexa score!

Anyway, it pans out that the RM25 for a 10GB hosting is only for 3 months. It costs RM85 for a 12 months plan. It has a 50GB bandwidth limit, which is quite a lot. One thing that I am totally amazed is that this plan allows up to 10 addon domains. That is hell-of-a-bargain! I currently have to pay an extra RM15 for an addon per year and have already added on two domains. *sigh* I hope I can strike a good deal with my current web hosting company to give me a discount or something. 😉 I am planning on getting more on board.

Anyway, considering the stuffs you get for just RM85, I would say it is a good deal. However, since it is a new company, there will be no guarantee whatsoever on the service. I’d still say you can give a try. They provide a 30 days money back guarantee so you can ask for a refund if you are not satisfied with it.

This is NOT a sponsored post. I just find quite an interesting new company and decide to plug it. I wonder if the boss, Shahzan Nizar would give me a free account for this free review. Do you think I deserve a free account? LOL. *wink wink*

Migrated To A US Server Hosted By ServerFreak

I have been hosting my blog with the same hosting company since the very beginning. I have no plans to change unless they fail to fulfill my hosting needs. So far, they have provided me with more than I can ask for. Not to mention the great customer support that they have provided so far.

I read other bloggers complaining about their hosting company’s horrible customer service — some companies do not reply to your emails for days or do not answer what you have asked. I have said this before but I will say it again. I pity them because I have Sam (my hosting company’s big boss) in my MSN contact list. I just give him a buzz whenever I have a question and he replies almost immediately.

For the past few weeks now, I noticed that TMNet’s line becomes a little unstable at times. They have announced that they are in the midst of upgrading their network. To be honest, I have somehow lost confidence in TMNet. That is why I requested Sam to transfer my blog to another server hosted some where else.

To my surprise, he said he has a server in the US. It is hosted under the same company that LiewCF is currently using. Sweet! I asked him to transfer my blog over and it was done immediately. I believe the local dns servers have updated the new IP and my domain names are pointing to the new server in the US.

A big thank you to Sam who runs ServerFreak. I highly recommend those who plan to start a new blog or are frustrated with their current hosting company to try them out. They provide one of the cheapest package that I have seen this far. However, rest assured that they do provide quality servers and great customer service as well.
