Why I Like To Make Money Online With Blogitive

I have been writing for Blogitive for a few weeks now. From my experience, they are one of the best places a person with a small blog can start from if they want to make money online. Below is a summary of the pros and cons of Blogitive.

Pros:

  • Standardized requirements of 100+ words.
  • No limit on number of posts a blogger can reserve in a day.
  • No limit on number of posts a blogger can write in a day.
  • An offer can be completed within 48 hours, giving more time for the blogger.
  • The time left before a post expired is displayed at the offer screen.
  • Pays through PayPal weekly.

Cons:

  • So far, each post’s payout is $5 only.
  • I notice whenever offers are available, they come in droves. That means offers are grabbed by the same individuals that are online at that moment and are not shared equally among the rest.
  • Requires two non-sponsored posts between any of their offers.

They can overcome the second disadvantage by setting a maximum offer a blogger can reserve at any given time. For example, an individual can reserve up to two offers each time. After the offer has been completed, another offer can be reserved. That way, it prevents any individual from holding up too many offers at a time.

I have personally experienced holding up to five offers but ended up only able to finish three within the 48 hours period :-P If you think that is a lot, I currently have 10 offers on hold. There are at least five others that I ignored simply because I doubt I can finish even the ones I have in hand.

Have you tried out Blogitive? What are your experience with it? Any tips or rants about it? Mind to share?

Netlynx: Broadband Up To 10Mbps From TIME dotCom

I read that TIME dotCom is providing a broadband service named Netlynx with speeds up to 10mbps. There are four packages available — 2, 4, 6 and 10mbps — costing from RM99 per month up to RM499 per month respectively. They are providing discounts of RM20 to RM30 for each package until the end of this year. The official website for this broadband service is Netlynx.net.my.

Netlynx: TIME dotCom broadband 10mbps

The domain name was registered only early this month indicating that this website is in fact very new. After scanning through Netlynx’s official website, I noticed a few improvements that are needed for it.

  • Blue and red are two very strong colors. I am not an expert in color balancing for website designs but my eyes were “hurting” after a brief view of the website. Red text on a blue background is a definite no-no. I understand that TIME dotCom’s official colors are blue and red but that doesn’t mean you need to cover 70% of the website with these two colors.
  • The entire website is a “large banner” consisting of six images. As much as I do not like websites designed entirely in flash, designing an entire page where all the text are embedded in images is worse.
  • There are no information on where or how to subscribe. The contact number of TIME dotCom is not present anywhere in the website. It is like ordering from a menu only to be told by the waiter that none of the items are available.

It is good that more ISPs are giving new alternatives for users. I am not sure if Netlynx is available throughout Malaysia because, you guessed it, this information is not in the website.

How To Check What Plugins Other Bloggers Are Using?

Have you wondered what plugins other bloggers are using? Some bloggers are kind enough to share this information by providing a “plugin list” page. However, most bloggers do not do this. So, how do we extract the list of plugins other bloggers are using if they are not sharing them willingly?

We hack them! go through a backdoor.

I was reading this article on how we can make our Wordpress blog safer by putting a blank index.html file in /plugins/ directory. Only then did I realize we can view the list of plugins that are saved by a blogger. This trick will work provided that the blogger did not block the directory in anyway.

Go ahead and try it. Just type http://www.blogname.com/wp-content/plugins/ and view the list of plugins others are using. You can’t download the plugin directly from the folder. Once you get the file name of the plugin, do a search on Google to find the plugin.

Eatery2U, A Social Network For Food Fetish In Malaysia

Some people eat to live, while others live to eat. It doesn’t matter if eating is just a need, a luxury or even a hobby to you, we all have to eat. You may be the adventurous type that looks for new food to satisfy your taste buds all the time. Maybe you are just tired of eating the same old food everyday. I was introduced a website by a friend that may help you find the next best place to dine.

Eatery2u.com, a food guide for the best restaurants in Malaysia

Eatery2U.com is a social network website that allows its members to share their favorite restaurants in Malaysia. You start off by registering an account and selecting the type of cuisines that you enjoy — Chinese, Malay, Indian, Western & European, authentic Asian, etc. You can upload photos, fill up your personal details, marital status, hobbies, favorite books, movies and many others, just like a normal social network website.

There are lists of latest eateries, popular eateries and even eateries that are currently having promotion. If you found an eatery that is one of your favorites, you can add them into your favorite eateries list. When other members view your profile, they will be able to see this list. You can try out new restaurants that others have added into their favorite list. If you are unable to find something to your liking, you can post a question asking people to suggest one for you.

If you are just looking for a good place to chill out, they also provide a list of pub, lounge and bar that you may want to take a look at. All this talking about food is making me hungry. Bon appetite! :-)

How To Gain 1,000 Visitors In 24 Hours

To be a successful artist, you need to have a combination of two or more of the following — talent, determination and exposure. There are many who may have the talent but if they were not discovered or do not have the determination to excel, they can never be successful. The same concept applies when it comes to being successful in blogging. One needs to have a combination of the three factors mentioned above.

This post is aimed to help those who can produce great contents but have little luck in getting traffic to their blog. If you are already producing great contents, it shows that you have the talent to write. What you need is a little exposure to start generating more traffic. There are many ways to achieve this. Some of them include being ranked higher in search engines through SEO optimization, participating in forums, leaving smart comments in popular blogs, etc.

From my personal experience, one of the easiest ways to get traffic into your blog is through social networking / bookmarking websites. The popular ones include Digg, StumbleUpon, Reddit and Del.icio.us. I have tried Digg and StumbleUpon in the past and am currently testing Del.icio.us. I do not have much luck with Digg. It could be due to my posts not being up to par yet. However, StumbleUpon worked quite well for me. In fact, my article on WordPress’s Douche Bag plugin has brought in over 1,000 page views in the first 24 hours.

Below are a few posts comparing Digg and StumbleUpon:

  • Darren Rowse from Problogger.net shared his views on why StumbleUpon sends more traffic than Digg. From his findings, Digg generated more traffic in the first week compared to StumbleUpon. As time passes by, the amount of traffic coming in from Digg has reduced to almost zero. Meanwhile, StumbleUpon continues to generate traffic even after 6 weeks of the post being published. He concluded that StumbleUpon generated more traffic in the long run compared to Digg.
  • Neil Patel from PronetAdvertising.com compared traffic from StumbleUpon, Digg and Del.icio.us and also found that StumbleUpon brings in more traffic. One thing he noticed is that even though it brought in more traffic, Digg visitors clicked on his RSS feed link more than the other two.

I am leaning more towards StumbleUpon because it works better for me. However, it is best to try out as many social bookmarking websites and find out which works for you. Some of them may not bring in as many traffic as you would like to have but any amount of traffic is still an exposure for your blog.

Try out StumbleUpon today and utilize it to gain some exposure for your blog. You can selectively stumble on your own posts. Apart from that, you can also install the StumbleUpon toolbar and use it to discover new websites others have stumbled upon. Don’t forget to give the website a “thumbs up” if you find it interesting. That way, you help the blogger gain more exposure on his blog. I believe “What goes around, comes around”.
